The TownLake YMCA Branch in Austin, TX is seeking a Communications Intern to join our team. 

This is an unpaid internship. Intern will receive credit for communications or related college course.

General Function:

Under the direction of the Community Engagement Director, the Communications Intern is responsible for designing and printing fliers about programs; writing, designing, and producing web content and newsletter for staff; giving cause-driven tours to potential members and following up with those potential members via phone call; data entry and organization of member and staff information; social media and app communications; community event planning and event production. The Communications Interns play a vital role in the TownLake YMCA team.                                    


  • Ideal interns will be passionate about marketing and design, with fluency in InDesign, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, listening, and empathy for others are key.
  • Must be comfortable and enthusiastic on the phone and in meeting people in person.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • Interested in contributing to the mission of the YMCA
  • Reliable transportation to attend work
