YMCA Camp Cypress in Buda, TX is seeking Camp Counselors to join our team for summer outdoor programming and Fall weekend Family Camps.


We are looking for Youth Development professionals who are interested in making positive impacts on the lives of children and families.

Pay rate:
$10 - $12 per hour, based on position and experience

Job Description:

Family Campouts take place monthly from September through November, and February through April. Counselors are expected to work on Saturdays from 11am-10pm, and Sundays from 6am-noon. 

Counselors lead enrichment activities, fishing, shelter building, outdoor education, and group initiatives. Counselors are required to actively engage with campers, set up and clean up all activities, supervise all campers, and provide a fun and safe environment.

All majors encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include supervision of children, implementation of daily activities, and communication with parents. All staff members receive training specifically related to the outdoor environment. Pre-camp training is mandatory and will occur in late May, likely May 23rd-27th.

Camps will take place at YMCA Camp Cypress located at 959 Old San Antonio Rd Buda, TX 78610. This is a 100% outdoor camp.  Staff will be in an outdoor environment during all camp hours.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age upon date of hire
  • Must be a high school graduate
  • Must become certified in CPR, Wilderness First Aid, and Basic Water Rescue after hiring
  • Must be responsible, punctual, creative, and organized
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Child care or camp experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation to attend work
  • Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
