The Program Services YMCA Branch in Austin, TX is seeking a part-time Training and Staff Development Specialist to join our team. We are looking for applicants who are available Monday through Friday between 2:30-6:30pm and some evenings.  

 

Pay Rate:
$11.50-12.50/hour, depending on experience
 

General Function:

The Training And Staff Development Specialist will work closely with the Director of Training and Staff Development in assisting with the development of our Afterschool and Summer Camp front line staff. They will coach and mentor staff in the most effective youth development techniques. In addition they will lead trainings with the Director of Training and Staff Development.

 

Job Description:

Under the direction of the YMCA Director of Training and Staff Development, the Training and Staff Development Specialist is responsible for:

  • Promoting and incorporating the five YMCA core values, 40 Developmental Assets, and character development model into all program activities
  • Coach and mentor Afterschool, Summer camp, MEND, and ELR staff through their professional development.
  • Assist the Director of Training and Staff Development in developing training curriculum and lead trainings.
  • Travel to multiple locations in Kyle, Buda, Austin and Pflugerville regions.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Training and Staff Development and Program Directors regarding staff development action plans.
  • Provides accurate and timely program communication to YMCA staff, Directors, and the Director of Training and Staff Development.
  • Attend personal development trainings and other assigned trainings by the Director of Training and Staff Development.
  • Serve as a non-exempt staff member to the YMCA of Austin, performing those duties as assigned by the Director of Training and Staff Development.
  • Actively and enthusiastically support the Branch and Association goals and directions through effective completion of tasks and verbal display to peers, staff, members and guests.
  • Teach CPR/FA training to Program Services’ part-time staff

 

Requirements:

  • Interested in contributing to the mission of the YMCA
  • Strong Afterschool and Summer Camp experience
  • Reliable transportation to travel from multiple programs
  • Can work Monday through Friday anywhere from 2:30-6:30pm
  • Can work up to 28 hours per week
  • Team player with a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • Minimum 18 years of age

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of work product
  • Able to multi-task
