The YMCA of Austin is seeking a Development Intern - Planning to join our team.


We are looking for applicants that are available 15-20 hours per week from June-August 2017 (start and end dates flexible) with the ability to work between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.This is an unpaid internship, however a $250 stipend will be provided at the end of the internship. 

 

General Function:

Under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving and the Development Associate, the Development Intern - Planning will help to execute planning for the upcoming 2018 Annual Giving Campaign. This is an opportunity to learn more about cultivation, stewardship, fundraising, processes and best practices as well as non-profit fundraising and philanthropy as a whole.   

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Create comprehensive handbook detailing processes and procedures, tips and tools, and best practices in relation to the Annual Giving Campaign to be used internally for staff.
  • Create useful handbook detailing relevant tips and tools, best practices, and resources in relation to the Annual Giving Campaign to be used externally for volunteers.
  • Oversee collecting, collating and organizing information and formatting handbooks in a visually appealing and approachable, digestible way.
  • Accurately record and edit information in our database (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Project a positive, helpful, friendly attitude to all internal and external constituents.
  • Additional activities where needed in relation to planning for our upcoming 2018 Annual Giving Campaign.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have strong administrative skills, keen attention to detail, clerical, computer, and data entry skills
  • Must be self-confident, results-oriented, and maintain high ethical standards and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be interested in contributing to the mission of the YMCA of Austin
  • Experience with basic office functions is highly preferred

 

Technical Skills/Experience Required:

  • Experience using Microsoft Suite (including Excel and Word) required.
  • Experience using graphic design tools (such as InDesign) preferred.
  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree with an interest in non-profit fundraising, social work, humanities, or other relevant field preferred.
  • Data entry experience preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience preferred.
